“I love Provo. I love the people of Provo. I’ve been down practically every street in our city. Now, I ask for the opportunity to bring this powerful combination of respect, ability and experience to work for you as I serve on the Provo City Council. Please vote for me, Coy Porter, on November 6th. Thank you for your confidence. Thank you for your vote.”
Hello, my name is Coy Porter and I’m a candidate for Provo’s city-wide council seat. I retired after 30 years of service in the Provo Fire Department; serving the last 5 years as Fire Chief. I have learned a great deal about how this city functions politically as well as operationally. I am proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of the growth and quality of life we enjoy here in Provo.
Coy has:
For 30 years, I have dedicated my life to the protection of lives, property, and the environment. I was born here. I was raised here. Provo is and always has been home to my family.
I have gained a considerable amount of leadership and management experience over the years and have held leading roles in city, county and state committees and associations. Last year, I served as president of the Utah State Fire Chief’s Association and am an active member on the Governor’s Homeland Security Advisory committee. I also served as Provo’s Fire/EMS representative to the 2002 Winter Olympic planning committee.
I would like to continue serving the citizens of Provo. I would like to be your voice on the city council. I have both a working and personal relationship already established on both sides of our current city leadership structure. I feel that this is a distinct advantage in fostering cooperation. We need to work together to ensure that we continue to have the quality of life that we have come to enjoy and appreciate. I have a deep and abiding concern about Provo’s neighborhoods and want to see them healthy and vibrant. We all want that to continue for our children and our grandchildren.
Provo is the greatest place on earth to raise a family. We need to work hard to plan for our future. We need to be proactive in our approach to planning. There are growth issues, transportation issues, land use and zoning issues, and there are financial issues facing us; right now. I know that you feel the same way about our beautiful city.
Please exercise your right to vote. I would appreciate your consideration at the polls.
The general election is November 6th.
